Teaching History:
Instructed private lessons for four years in the United States. After returning to Japan, I mainly teach the bass sections of brass bands of junior high schools and high schools.
Message:
Through my experience with teachers from notable groups such as the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and the Boston Symphony Orchestra, I aim for a rich musicality in playing the double bass and work with each student to help them achieve the same goal.

Solving riddles and mystery novels. Der Ring des Nibelungen. Anime and games. Visiting aquariums, zoos, and museums. Cats and frogs.
Biography
After earning a BA in German Literature from Sophia University in Tokyo, Akiko completed a BM at Arizona State University, a MM at New England Conservatory, and a graduate diploma at Boston Conservatory with a full scholarship.
She studied with Donald Palma (Orpheus Chamber Orchestra), Orin O’Brien (New York Philharmonic) and Benjamin Levy (Boston Symphony Orchestra). While in the United States, she was a member of the Bristol Chamber Orchestra.
In her professional career, Akiko was a Core Member with the Hyogo Performing Arts Center Orchestra from 2010 to 2013, and participated in the Affinis Summer Music Festival in 2013. She currently freelances and performs as a guest musician with several orchestras in the Kansai region and elsewhere.
