Reiko Kikuchi graduated from Toho Gakuen School of Music. She studied with Hisa Endo, Hiroshi Ito and Aiko Iguchi.
Her music activities widely range from performances to piano teaching. For example, she has given open seminars and lessons throughout Japan, wrote for the music magazines and edited music scores. She also has been the leader of the International Piano Scholar Association which adopts the method of teaching concertos at the early stages of studying the piano. This piano teaching method is highly evaluated not only in Japan but also in overseas.
So far she has had recitals and concerto with Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, Kraków State Philharmony, the Budapest Symphony Orchestra of the Hungarian Radio, the Pomeranian Philharmonic Orchestra and the Khabarovsk Symphony Orchestra.
In 1999, she performed in the regular concert of the Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie in Germany and joined in its Japan tour, which received high acclaim. In “the evening of piano quintet’’ which was held in November annually, it co-stars with Primo Allegro String Quartet and it records live performance.
In addition, she co-stars with the band in Kraków and Katowice in Poland in April 2000 and it received favorable reviews.
Now, Kikuchi is a guest professor at the Tokyo College of Music and the Showa University of Music, and a leader of the International Piano Scholar Association.
As a pianist, in Sep, 2007, she has held ‘Sixty Red Roses Solo Recital’ and released CDs. She is also an executive Committee Chairperson of International Chopin Piano Competition in ASIA.
